Social Media Optimization
A new ‘marketing discipline’ is emerging called Social Media Optimization. No doubt, many of you have heard about Search Engine Optimization, where marketers fine tune a website’s structure/format/delivery to ensure that search engine bots/spiders accurately and fully capture the site’s content. The more fully optimized, the higher the natural listings on Google and elsewhere (note: you can only optimize crap so much, so content is still king!).
With the new art/science of Social Media Optimization, marketers implement changes to optimize a site so that it is more easily linked to, more highly visible in social media searches on custom search engines (such as Technorati), and more frequently included in relevant posts on blogs, podcasts and vlogs.
